- iPhone X only supports iOS 12 through iOS 16 and cannot be upgraded to iOS 17. Apple dropped iOS 17 support because the A11 Bionic chip no longer meets Apple's minimum hardware requirements for the operating system. The last available version for iPhone X is iOS 16.7.x, which continues to receive security patches. If you need iOS 17 features, upgrading to an iPhone 12 or later is required, as those models ship with A14 Bionic or newer.
