What works & limitations
- TrueMapping 2.0 with laser lidar (LIDAR D-ToF): creates floor maps with 98% accuracy on first mapping run — room boundaries are detected automatically; rooms can be manually renamed, split, or merged in the app's map editor
- OZMO Turbo 2.0 mop pad spin speed: adjustable from 1 to 180 RPM per zone — 180 RPM for tile and hardwood with dried spills; 100 RPM for laminate; mopping can be scheduled by zone to skip carpets automatically
- OMNI Station management: set mop washing temperature (cold wash for standard cleaning; 55°C hot wash for sanitization), configure mop washing frequency (every 10 square meters, every 15, or only at start/end), monitor clean water tank level (2.5L) and dirty water tank level (2.5L)
- Custom cleaning modes per room: vacuum-only, mop-only, vacuum-then-mop, or mop-then-vacuum — configurable independently per room with suction power (1600/2600/3200/5000 Pa selectable) and mop water volume (low/medium/high/extra-high) per zone
- Real-time cleaning map with coverage color overlay — cleaned areas shown in blue, uncleaned in gray; room-by-room cleaning duration breakdown available after each session in the History tab
- Firmware and AI obstacle avoidance model updates pushed automatically through Ecovacs Home app — AIVI 3D model receives new obstacle class definitions (confirmed: flip-flops, children's toys, and phone charging cables added in 2024 updates)
- Ecovacs Home requires an Ecovacs account and active internet connectivity — offline local-network control without internet is not currently supported; if internet is unavailable, the Deebot T20 Omni cannot be controlled via app
- Some advanced video features including the live camera view (DeeBot Camera feature on T20 Pro Omni) are region-locked — available in North America and Europe but not in all markets; check regional feature availability at ecovacs.com/product-support before purchase if live monitoring is required
- Ecovacs Home App requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for robot setup — during initial pairing, hold the robot's CLEAN button for 3 seconds until the indicator ring turns solid blue, then follow the Bluetooth LE-assisted Wi-Fi credential transfer in the app; the pairing process takes approximately 90 seconds from button press to Wi-Fi confirmation
- Ecovacs Home App minimum OS requirements: iOS 11.0 or later (iPhone 6s or later); Android 5.0 or later — the app is available on both App Store and Google Play; tablet versions scale correctly on iPad and Android tablets
- Ecovacs' AIVI 3D obstacle avoidance on the T20 Omni uses an RGB+structured light 3D camera — the app allows viewing a log of objects detected and the avoidance action taken (avoided left, avoided right, marked on map) after each cleaning session; enable the "Object Detection Log" feature in app Settings > Cleaning Preferences
- The Ecovacs Home App stores up to 5 saved floor maps per account — for homes with more than 5 distinct floor plans (e.g., multi-story with a basement), older maps must be deleted to add new ones; map data is stored in the Ecovacs cloud and syncs to the robot at the start of each session based on which floor plan is active
